october18th_logo2[1]THE 7 in 1: FUNDRAISING WITH A DIFFERENCE.

Fancy joining in the 7in7 but not daft enough to run 360kms? Here’s the solution. On Oct 18th we are putting on a scaled-down 7in7 Challenge that just about anybody can do. What we have in mind is a totally unique concept suitable for individuals or teams of 2-4 people. Here’s a few details to whet your appetite, with more to follow shortly:

Venue: a secret, but very cool, location within 50 mins. drive of downtown Auckland. Private land with wicked trails.

Format: we will set up 7 short courses – mini replicas of the Great Walks that will be run during the 7in7 Challenge. Competing as individuals or in relay teams, the idea is to  ‘knock off’ as many of these courses as you can, collecting Prize Points along the way.

Distances: each course will likely be between 3kms and 7kms long. Total of all 7 courses likely to be 25-30kms. Walk, run, hop, skip, pogo stick – the choice is yours!

Prizes: the emphasis is on FUN, not competition. The more courses that an individual or team complete, the better their chances of winning one of the major prizes, BUT there will also be a lot of luck involved! Anybody could win, regardless of their age, physique or fitness. There will be some really great prizes to reward the fortunate.

What to do? Put this in your diary for October 18th NOW. Start thinking about getting a team together – fellow runners, colleagues from work, drinking partners, lovers, ex-wives or ex-boyfriends.

ALL PROCEEDS WILL GO THE LEUKAEMIA & BLOOD FOUNDATION as part of the 7in7 Challenge mission to raise at least $50,000. We will release more details as soon as we have them.

Ultimate Hikes and Creature Comforts

UHikes logoI am thrilled to announce another sponsor – Ultimate Hikes run guided walks over the Routeburn and Milford tracks and have offered us all kinds of logistical support for these two legs of the Challenge. Best of all is a night at their ‘luxury’ lodge on the Milford Track, complete with evening meal. This is a huge help as we had planned a night on the Milford anyway but this saves us having to take in sleeping bags, food etc. They are even putting on ‘refreshment stops’ for us on these 2 tracks….. all we need now is an espresso cart flown in! Anyway, thanks to Noel and the all the team at Ultimate Hikes.
